Umaibo is a long-selling dagashi (cheap Japanese snack) with a cylindrical shape and puffy texture. Among many variations, this Umaibo has a mentaiko (spicy cod roe) flavor.
Normally, mentaiko is famous for its spicy taste, but it has a mild pungency because Umaibo is originally a snack targeted at children. However, even adults can enjoy this snack because of the secret ingredients of onion, garlic, and hot chili pepper.
Only non-GMO corn is used to make this dagashi snack.
