  • Description

Make your diet healthier by adding this Japanese seaweed to dishes. This is called mozuku: a stringy, brownish seaweed mostly harvested in Okinawa Prefecture.

Unlike most mozuku products sold at stores, which are put back in water and seasoned with vinegar, this product is a dried mozuku. This means you can store it for a long period (up to 8 months from the manufacturing date, when dried) and freely use it whenever you want to consume it.

Simply add this dried seaweed to miso soup, ramen, a dipping sauce of somen noodles, and other seasonings according to your preference. Its slimy texture can be used as a thickener.

It is a natural vegan-friendly food without preservatives or colorants.

Instructions

Take an appropriate amount of mozuku seaweed and soak it in water for 1~2 minutes. Then drain it well and add it to any kind of dish.

When mozuku gets wet, it may turn green; however, you can rest assured that this is due to the nature of this seaweed.

You can also add it directly to soup without putting it back in water.

Another common way of eating mozuku is tempura: coat it with batter and deep-fry.

If you feel that the mozuku is too long, cut it into a convenient size before consumption.
